Join Houston’s manufacturers as the GCMDM will be hosting a summer social and networking event at the Guadalajara Mexican Restaurant at 9799 Katy Freeway. Guadalajara Mexican Bar and Grill is located between Gessner and Bunker Hill on the South side of the I-10. The GCMDM is a community of manufacturing companies working together to support commercialization of medical device technology in the Gulf Coast region. GCMDM September Meeting Summary

The GCMDM kicked off the Fall season with a very successful monthly meeting at Tietronix. Over thirty guests enjoyed a complementary lunch and received an introduction to the software and graphics products offered by Tietronix. Thanks to all the folks at Tietronix for hosting this meeting. The next monthly meeting will be October 14 at Life-Tech, Inc.

Oral cancer is on the rise in the world and few dentists screen for it or even know how to. This became a life threaten situation for the man behind a new medical device to help dentists screen for oral cancer. This device is being made in part at Blackwell Plastics. Board of Directors Mark Henrichs has spent more than 30 years in industrial research in the photographic, pharmaceutical and medical device industries. He holds an undergraduate degree in chemistry from Rice University and a PhD in chemistry from UCLA. His career accomplishments include multiple peer-reviewed scientific publications, industrial patents and experience with start-up companies. Most recently he was the Director of Technology Development at Fairway Medical Technology. While at Fairway he co-founded the Gulf Coast Medical Device Manufacturers, a community of local design, engineering and manufacturing companies working together to share opportunities and keep business related to medical devices in the region. Since retiring from Fairway in 2008, he has concentrated on the growth and development of the GCMDM.
