BioTex was founded in 1997 with the mission to design, develop, test and market innovative bioinstrumentation for agricultural, environmental and biomedical applications. Our current research focuses on early stage development of both diagnostic and therapeutic medical applications. Our goal in this mission is to build value in new technologies by directing effective research and development programs, demonstrating performance and commercial utility of promising new devices and procedures and seeking regulatory market approvals for eventual commercialization of technology. This goal was originally pursued through the small business innovation research (SBIR) program and BioTex received its first NIH SBIR award in late 1997. Since that time, BioTex has raised over $12 million in funding, developed a number of FDA cleared medical technologies, created high value spin off entities and has an internal portfolio of promising medical technologies at various stages of development.
