Laser Tissue Welding, Inc An Evolution towards sutureless surgery
Laser Tissue Welding Inc (LTW) is a startup biotechnology company providing life saving human therapeutics based on advances in laser assisted tissue welding technology. The company focuses its research and product development in areas of innovative sutureless or stitchless surgical therapies using human serum albumin based biodegradable biomaterials to join, repair and create hemostasis on surfaces of solid visceral organs such as the liver, spleen and kidney involved in trauma, cancer and transplantation in the presence of coagulation failure or therapeutic anticoagulation. In May 2006 LTW received a Phase I Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) Commercialization Grant award from the National Institutes of Health for $160,000. In July 2007, a Texas Emerging Technology Fund (TETF) award for $160,000 was awarded by the office of the Governor.
